FARTHER ALONG

@ 07:43 AM (39 months, 21 hours ago)

There’s an old gospel song that says, “Farther along we’ll know all about it”. I truly believe that we will be enlightened some day and know all about it, it being the work of our Lord. When we get to Heaven, those of us that are going there, I think all things will be revealed to us.

How many times have you read a passage in the Word, and wished you could better interpret what it truly meant? Someday when we see the Good Shepherd all things will be explained to us.

Another line of that song says, “Farther along we’ll understand why”. That statement truly speaks volumes. We will understand why! Why God made everything as He did, and why He made man just a little lower than the angels. He could just as easily made man equal to the angels, but that was not in His master plan. I thank God that He made things just as they are; however, man came along and messed things up top the point that some of Gods’ greatest creations are barely recognizable.

Another line from that song says, “cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine”, that gives me joy just to read those words and know that God’s people can live in the sunshine no matter how bleak the times may get. And then it says, “We’ll understand it all by and by”.

The one line that has great meaning to me is, “Faithful till death said our loving Master, a few more days to labor and wait; Toils of the road will then seem as nothing, As we sweep thru the beautiful gate”. If those words don’t start your fire, your wood is wet.

There are several other verses just as apropos; however, time and space precludes me from expounding further.

LAISSEZ FAIRE

@ 07:58 AM (39 months, 1 day ago)

A French term meaning “the theory or system of government that upholds the autonomous character of the economic order, believing that government should intervene as little as possible in the direction of economic affairs”. That has happened all too often in times past, and is now to a great degree happening throughout the so-called free world. With only a semblance of order, a system will fall into chaos.

Straw Bossing

I have just finished watching some people build my patio. Although they did not get through, I was fascinated by the way it all came together. I never learned much about carpenter work and don’t intend to at this late stage of my life.

Why Wait??

@ 09:15 AM (40 months, 2 days ago)

There are times when one receives a calling on their life and ignores the voice of God. If you ever hear from God, regardless in what fashion, and you are sure it is a message from God, then you best heed the calling without delay.

Are You Spinning Your Wheels??

@ 06:59 AM (40 months, 12 days ago)

There are times in ones life when it seems that no matter what is attempted, it’s as though the wheels of a vehicle is trapped in a mud puddle spinning, this is surely a good analogy. You cannot go forward nor can you go in reverse. You are trapped there until you get help from someone, and that someone more likely than not is when you call upon the Lord.

Gone Fishing

@ 08:33 AM (40 months, 13 days ago)

Signs of the times, when we have more time for sports than the Lord. You will recall how the Word speaks of folk getting weaker and wiser, that time has arrived. Not only are we weaker in body, but also in mind. We fail to exercise either sufficiently. And wiser there’s no doubt. Consider the advancement made in the past fifty years, far exceeds all the others from the dawn of time.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

@ 09:48 AM (40 months, 17 days ago)

If the trumpet should sound this instant signaling the return of the Lord, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?? Would you greet Him with shouts of Glory, would you cry for the rocks to fall on you and hide you from His face, or would you try some other ploy to escape the wrath of God? Just maybe you would be prayed up and ready to meet Him in the air. I truly hope so.

As time marches on, there are constant reminders that our time is growing short. Whether we are here during the Rapture of the Church or whether we go by the grave, our time is very short compared to eternity. I realize that folk have been saying this for thousands of years now, but think how much shorter our time is than when Paul was ministering to the gentiles. Now consider what the Word teaches, one day with the Lord is as a thousand years with man. Holding to this principle it has only been two years since Jesus walked upon this land. Think on that!

Preparation for the hereafter is the most sane thing one can do while living here on earth. Should one fail to serve the Lord and then come to the end of life, only to be cast into outer darkness and eventually into the lake of fire where there is no reprieve, and one would be separated from God for all eternity, how sad that would be. Considering how easy it is to give ones heart to God and the rewards one would accrue during a lifetime of service to Him, small wonder that many people consider salvation.

If you have never called on Jesus to save your soul, it’s high time you did so. He has never turned anyone away that has sincerely repented of their sin and asks Him to save them by the Blood of Jesus Christ. A short prayer of repentance and acceptance of the Lord as your Savior and you will be assured of a Home in Glory for all eternity. A simple prayer follows: Heavenly Father I confess my sin to you and ask forgiveness in the name of Jesus, I turn from my sinful ways and acknowledge the virgin birth, the vicarious life, the cross, the resurrection of Jesus, and I ask Him to come into my heart just now, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, I look forward to seeing you in Heaven. God richly bless you and your family all the days of your life.

TRY THIS

@ 03:37 PM (40 months, 19 days ago)

Whenever you feel downhearted and wonder when your next blessing will be coming your way---TRY THIS. Bow in prayer and begin to think of all the misery that’s in this old world, then think of all your friends and relatives that are not saved by God’s Grace, then you will be on your way to understanding that your problems are not nearly so grave as you thought just a few minutes ago.

Suicide Thwarted

@ 09:58 AM (40 months, 23 days ago)
Sitting alone on top of a five-story building with his legs dangling over the edge, contemplating suicide, was a young man named John.  John seemed to have everything to live for, his folks were upper middle class, he had a football scholarship to his favorite college, his grades were good, and he was the envy of most of his contemporaries.

Life's Little Blunders

@ 09:25 AM (40 months, 23 days ago)
Try as I may, I can’t seem to get through a day without some sort of blunder.  I will make the wrong decision about one thing or another, do something that makes other people irritated, or find some silly fault with my spouse or someone else.  Some days it doesn’t pay for me to get out of bed.
